“The difference between pilgrim and tourist is the intention of attention, the quality of the curiosity.” –Phil Cousineau from The Art of Pilgrimage
A transformational journey is an intentional experience, far away or nearby, that alters the way one views the world, the way one interacts with the world, the way one interacts with other people, or changes the view one has of oneself. It is an intentional journey, thoughtfully prepared for, that includes setting personal goals, and if appropriate includes group goals. It is a time for asking questions, for seeking answers, for intense reflection and deepening an understanding of yourself and the world around you.
On our Christian paths, we are all on some kind of transformational journey every day. How do we name the intention and provide opportunities for people to have these experiences, experiences which would bring new perspectives to our All Saints’ community through travel, building relationships and individual and corporate spiritual growth? International travel would give All Saints’ parishioners and our church as a whole more of a global, broad perspective and personal understanding of other world communities. This will make our community stronger and better able to make a difference to others locally and worldwide as global church citizens and Christians. Intentional experiences can also be accomplished closer to home, either through domestic pilgrimage or mission or events or retreats in and around Atlanta.
